HANNAH BELSINGER SPIRIT OF TENNIS AWARD

In the spring of 2013 high school sophomore Hannah Belsinger of Barron Collier High School in Naples, Florida was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She fought through treatments and her doctors declared her in remission in December 2013. In the spring of 2014 Hannah returned to the tennis court for Barron Collier helping lead the Cougars to a 5th place finish at the DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships. Hannah went on to the State Championship for the No. 2 Singles position, a highlight at the end of her treatment.
In November 2014, Hannah found out her cancer was back. Midway through her senior year Hannah wanted nothing more than to return to the court to lead the Barron Collier tennis team as their lone senior. In January 2015 just as plans were being made for Barron Collier to return to the DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships, Hannah received news from her doctor that she would need to travel to Boston for a bone marrow transplant. Hannah's treatment went well and she went on to graduate and is currently an undergraduate student at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Since 2015 we have annually awarded the Hannah Belsinger Spirit of Tennis Award to one male and one female tennis player that exhibit the same special love of the game that Hannah has.
