DECOTURF HIGH SCHOOL TENINS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sixteen of the Nation's Top Girls High School Tennis Teams to Compete in 7th Annual Event

March 12, 2013 – Louisville, KY – Sixteen of the nation's top girls high school tennis teams will travel to Louisville, Kentucky this weekend to compete in the prestigious DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships. The seventh annual national invitational tournament will take place on March 15th and 16th and feature six defending state champions and five state finalists. The tournament will host teams from Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennesee and West Virginia.

The championships will be hosted in Louisville, KY. The event will feature 16 teams and nearly 200 players competing in 144 matches in two days. The championships will begin with first and quarterfinal rounds of play on Friday at E.P. Sawyer State Park, Top Gun Academy, Saint Xavier High School and Central Park. The tournament will resume of Saturday with semi-final and championship round matches at E.P. Sawyer State Park and Top Gun Academy.

Defending Tennessee Division II Class AA State Champion Baylor School (Chattanooga, TN) is seeking their third straight tournament championships in 2013 and returns two-time tournament MVP Samantha Caswell. The Red Raiders will have plenty of strong competition from participants including 2012 Tennessee Division I Class AAA State Champion Ravenwood (Brentwood, TN), defending Tennessee Division II Class A State Champion Webb School of Knoxville (Knoxville, TN), 2012 West Virginia Class AAA State Champion Huntington (Huntington, WV), Oklahoma Class 6A state finalist Jenks (Jenks, OK) and defending Florida Class AA State Runner-Up Gulliver Preparatory (Pinecrest, FL). The tournament will also feature plenty of talent from the Bluegrass State including defending State Champion Lone Oak (Paducah, KY), defending state finalist Notre Da­me (Covington, KY) and state semi-finalist Sacred Heart (Louisville, KY).

The tournament features some of the most talented players from throughout the country including Baylor's Caswell, the defending Tennessee Division II Class AA Singles State Champion. The tournament will also feature five-star recruits Olivia Thaler (Gulliver Prep) and Cassie Mercer (Huntington) who are ranked 28th and 31st in the nation in the junior class. Other top players include Julieta Dalmau (Gulliver Prep), Emma Alsup (Harpeth Hall), Anna Catharine Feaster (Webb School of Knoxville), Michelle McKamey (Lone Oak), Cassie Mercer (Huntington), Josie Rogers (Dobyns Bennett), Sophie St. Amant (Ocean Springs) and Caroline Walter (Sacred Heart), Joulia Likhanskaia (Winter Park), Iris Hao (Ravenwood), McKinleigh Lair (Jenks) and Piper Huey (Jenks).

The DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships is an national high school invitational held annually in Louisville, KY. The tournament in its 7th year has hosted more than 250 high school teams and more than 2,500 student-athletes. Local Attractions Offer Discounts to Participants

The DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships has paired up with some of the top tourist attractions in the Louisville area to offer discounts for participating teams. One of the missions of the tournament is to enhance the experience of participating players and coaches by giving them time to experience Louisville while on their trip. Among the discounted attractions are:

The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory showcases the history of the Louisville Slugger brand of baseball bats made by Hillerich & Bradsby, and of baseball in general. Outside is a six-story bat that appears to be leaning against the museum building but is completely free standing, the bat weighs 68,000 pounds. Guests now have the opportunity to see bats being made seven days a week and everyone receives a miniature souvenir bat at the end of the tour! A discounted admission of $10 is being offered to all tournament participants when a tournament coaches pass is shown at the ticket window.


When you visit the Kentucky Derby Museum you will find yourself immersed in the next best thing to actually being at the Derby! Our exhibits will take you through the journey from the birth of the foal to the winner's circle. Find yourself in the middle of Kentucky Derby week activities and Derby traditions. Or you can take in the view of the track on Derby Day from the middle of the Infield. A discounted admission of $10 is being offered to all participating players when a tournament coaches pass is shown at the ticket window.

2013 Boys A Division Bracket Released


The pairing for the 2013 Boys DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships 'A Division' have been released. The tournament will begin on Friday, March 22nd with some exciting first round match-ups. 

  • Defending Florida Class 3A State Champion Barron Collier (Naples, FL), the 2012 tournament runner-up, will open play against Tennessee Division II Class AA semi-finalist Baylor (Chattanooga, TN).
  • Deerfield (Deerfield, IL) will look to follow up their 5th Place finish in Illinois last season as they open play against Northern California state quarterfinalist Davis (Davis, CA).
  • Florida Class 2A runner-up Gulliver Prep (Miami, FL) open play against defending Louisiana Class 5A State Champion Jesuit (New Orleans, LA).
  • Defending Tennessee Division II Class AA State Champion Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, TN) will take on three-time Mississippi Class 6A State Champion Ocean Springs (Ocean Spring, MS) in their tournament opener.
  • Defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association Champion Mount St. Joseph (Baltimore, MD) will open tournament play against Florida Class 4A's 8th place finisher Winter Park (Winter Park, FL).
  • Tennessee Division II Class AA semi-finalist McCallie (Chattanooga, TN) will open play against defending Illinois State Champion Hinsdale Central (Hinsdale, IL).
  • Defending Kentucky State Champion Saint Xavier (Louisville, KY) will look to follow up a 4th place finish in 2012 as they open play against Ravenwood (Brentwood, TN).
  • Kentucky state quarterfinalist Trinity (Louisville, KY) will open play against Tennessee Division II Class AA runner-up Memphis University School (Memphis, TN).
The tournament will consist of two rounds of play on Friday, March 22nd and two rounds of play on Saturday, March 23rd. The tournament championship is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30pm at E.P. Sawyer State Park. To view a printable copy of the bracket click here.

The pairing for the 2013 Girls' DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships have been released. The tournament will begin on Friday, March 15th with some exciting first round match-ups. 

Two-time defending tournament champion Baylor (Chattanooga, TN) will open play against Cookeville (Cookeville, TN) and defending Kentucky State Champion Lone Oak (Paducah, KY) will open play against Tennessee Division II Class AA semi-finalist Harpeth Hall (Nashville, TN). Jenks (Jenks, OK) will look to follow up a 4th place finish in the 2012 event as they open play against defending West Virginia Class AAA State Champion Huntington (Huntington, WV). 2012 Tennessee Division I Class AAA runner-up Dobyns-Bennett (Kingsport, TN) will take on Winter Park (Winter Park, FL) who finished 3rd in Florida's Class 4A last season. Defending Tennessee Division II Class A State Champion Webb School of Knoxville (Knoxville, TN) will open play against Tennessee Division I Class AAA semi-finalist Siegel (Murfreesboro, TN). Ocean Springs (Ocean Spring, MS) won their third straight Mississippi Class 6A State Championship last season and will open play against Florida Class 2A runner-up Gulliver Prep (Miami, FL).  Tennessee Division I Class AAA State Champion Ravenwood (Brentwood, TN) will open play against Kentucky semi-finalist Sacred Heart (Louisville, KY) and Kentucky runner-up Notre Dame (Park Hills, KY) will open play against Kentucky quarterfinalist DuPont Manual (Louisville, KY).

Former Participants Excel at Collegiate Level

Former DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships participants are making their mark on college tennis. Five former All-Tournament team members have made the first ITA Rankings of the 2013 season. 

Robert Stineman - The 2011 Tournament MVP has made his mark at Stanford. The sophomore is currently ranked 14th in the ITA Northwest Singles Rankings. Stineman was named an ITA Scholar Athlete last season finishing his freshman year with a 22-13 overall record. 

Brett Clark - The 2011 & 2012 All-Tournament Team member is quickly making an impact at North Carolina in his freshman season. The former High School All-American was ranked 9th ITA Carolina Singles Rankings and 57th in the nation in the first ITA National Singles Rankings.

Jared Hiltzik - The 2012 Tournament MVP and 2011 All-Tournament Team member has made a swift transition to collegiate tennis at Illinois. The  former High School All-American was ranked 10th in the ITA Midwest Singles Rankings and 9th in the ITA Midwest Doubles Rankings. The Illini freshman was ranked 114th in  the nation in the first ITA National Singles Rankings.

Alex Gornet - The three-time All-Tournament Team member and 2010 Tournament MVP has made an impact early in his freshman year at Louisville. The Saint Xavier graduate was ranked  4th in the ITA Ohio Valley Doubles Rankings and 31st in the nation in the ITA National Doubles Rankings. 

Jimmy Roebker - The former All-Tournament Team member has made a strong impact in his first two seasons at Xavier. The former High School All-American was ranked 55th in the nation in the ITA National Doubles Rankings.
